Medior System Engineer – The Chain Company – Apeldoorn

On behalf of our partner Saab, we are looking for a Medior System Engineer to strengthen the Air Traffic Management Engineering team.

Your role

Join Saab Air Traffic Management in Apeldoorn and contribute to delivering cutting-edge air traffic control solutions to customers around the world. As a Medior System Engineer, you will become part of a dedicated and experienced engineering team of 17, responsible for implementing the advanced I-ATS system. Working closely with your colleagues in Sweden, you’ll be involved throughout the entire project lifecycle – from requirements analysis and system configuration to deployment and commissioning. In this collaborative and hands-on role, you will participate in technical discussions, contribute to customer workshops, and support on-site activities such as system validation, installation, and training. International travel (up to 25%) is a naturally part of the role, with up to one week per month spent on-site with the customers across the globe and a hybrid way of working (~60/40%).

Your profile

• You hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field
• You have at least 3-5 years of experience in a similar role.
• You are motivated by technical challenges, eager to grow, and enjoy working with complex software systems in a team-oriented environment.
• You are structured, communicative, and proactive – comfortable organizing your work and collaborating with colleagues, customers, and stakeholders.
• Your strong verbal and written English skills enable you to communicate clearly in both technical discussions and documentation.
• Fluent in Dutch is a plus but not a must have.

We’re looking for someone with experience in:

• Requirement management and system configuration
• System verification and validation
• Customer interaction
• Linux environments

Additional experience in any of the following areas is a plus:

• Knowledge of radar, ADS-B, GPS, MLAT, and ATM communication protocols
• Bash, Python, C++, Java, MATLAB, Simulink
• Network configuration
• Software development
• Project Management
• Aviation or safety-critical

This position requires that you pass a security vetting based on the current regulations around/of security protection.
